Day Three In Tokyo, Japan

I feel so sad to be leaving Tokyo. I'm sitting in an aeroplane, traveling back to Singapore. The taste of the Tokyo sushi will stay in my mind forever. I ate a meal of toast and coffee for breakfast today. The COMFORTING taste lingered in my mouth for a while before being washed down by a sip of coffee. Eager to take one last look at a shrine, I made a visit to the Toshugu Shrine. There, I made sure to take a thorough look at the grounds. Shrines are places you would never see in Singapore! It was TERRIFIC just snapping photos of the shrine! To think that I will not have a chance to visit Tokyo in a long time... Wanting to visit a park again after my previous wonderful experience, I paid a visit to the Shinjuku Park. The Shinjuku Park is a small green area located in western Shinjuku. The layout of the park is very simple. It is a very accessible park for the many office workers in the area and an ideal place for them to spend their lunch time. You can also see the belongings of homeless people carefully wrapped up in blue plastic ready to be unpacked at night time. I almost cried at the sight of the homeless people sitting on the streets. PITY welled up inside of me but there was nothing I could do. Next, I did the thing I was looking forward to most. I visited Rumiko Takahashi! Okay, I did not actually meet her but I saw her works of art (her anime) and brief explanations were given of the different anime. Of course, the anime I was most FOND of was InuYasha (the full title of the anime is InuYasha: a Feudal Fairytale) . Subsequently, I moved along to have my lunch at Sushi Daiwa where I ate none other then sushi. As expected by now, it was FANTASTIC. It reminded me of a little verse I once read, "I'm good, aren't I? I eat all my ice-cream because it's yummy and I want it in my tummy unlike smelly old Ellie belly." I know it is kind of insulting but it brings a smile to my face. Recalling that I have yet to visit a theatre, I took a bus to the Kabuki-za Theatre. I was shocked to find that it was a wooden architecture. I was sad to read in a brochure that it was once burned down in 1921. Since it was burnt down due to an electricity leakage, the NEW building had to be 'be fireproof, yet carry traditional Japanese architectural styles', and at the same time using Western materials such as lighting equipments. Before the second building was completed, an earthquake struck. The building was restored, however, in the 1950s. Unfortunately, it is scheduled to be demolished in 2010 and rebuilt in 2013. I left the building, still mulling over the infomation gathered in the theatre. I walked absent-mindedly to the Kannei-ji Temple. The BEAUTY of the temple took my breath away. It was a five-storied pagoda! Here is a picture to show you what I mean:

AMAZING, right? I sighed in depression as I trodded slowly to dinner at the Menya Musashi Ramen. I took my time as I SAVOURED the ramen. I downed the soup in a quick gulp and made my way back to the Four Seasons Hotel. Not bothering to pack, I threw all my belongings and clamped the cover down on my suitcase. I wiped the moisture out of my eyes as I checked out of the hotel and made my way to the airport. I have never felt this way before so I knew I really LIKED Tokyo. I really, really hope to have a chance to visit Tokyo again.

Day Two in Tokyo, Japan

The speed at which time flies is impossible to believe. Two days in Tokyo have already passed! It is sad to think that I will be leaving Tokyo tomorrow. This morning, I enjoyed yet another MOUTH-WATERING breakfast at Oedo Chirashi. An endless feast of sushi was laid out in front of me! I could feel everybody's stares boring into my face as I stared open-mouthed at the food. I bet that they were all thinking, "Who's that girl drooling her saliva into all the food? Ew!" I laughed silently just at the thought of it. The rest of the day was spent at the Tokyo Disneyland! It was so FUN! I immediately flocked to their Fantasyland. Well, I knew I had to see the Pooh's Honey Hunt! There they showed featured trackless technology and state-of-the-art special effects. COOL, right? Here are two pictures of the Pooh's Honey Hunt:

By then, the sun was setting so I made my way to Yonehana Unagi for dinner. YUM! After indulging in the best possible dishes, I made my way back to the Four Seasons Hotel. You could not have imagined how a hot bath feels after a long day!

Day One in Tokyo, Japan

Wow! I cannot believe I am in Tokyo, Japan! I am currently staying at the Four Seasons Hotel in Tokyo (a five star hotel; WOW!) . The sushi I had for breakfast in the morning was so much more DELICIOUS than compared to the eggs and toast sold back at home in Singapore. After eating my breakfast, I made my way to the Tsukiji Fish Market under the recommendation of my mother. It was GREAT! I managed to buy all my groceries in just one place for the first time in my life. Subsequently, I headed to the famous Meiji Shrine. There, I experienced what a REAL shrine is like. The shrine was similar to the one described in InuYasha, an anime I enjoy watching. By then, I was starting to get hungry, so I made my way to Gottsan, where I enjoyed an EXCELLENT giblet pot dish, complete with soju. After I had stuffed myself silly with the sashimi, I took a walk to the Ueno Park Zoo. The two pandas breeded there were so ADORABLE! It took quite a while to tear myself away from the panda enclosure. It was getting dark by now so I decided to make a trip to the Science Musuem. I read from the brochure given there and decided to check out Atomos exibit where they introduce nuclear powers simply. Simply put, it was extremely INTERESTING. Next, I went to the Tokyo National Museum where I fell in LOVE with a display of the sometsuke technique. I could not believe it but I was suddenly famished! So I went over to the Yokohama China Town Shark Fin Resturant where I had, you guessed it, shark's fin. It was super YUMMY as I have never eaten shark's fin before. The sky was pitch black by the time I finished eating so I made one last trip to the Rikugien Park. I caught my breath as I walk in to a SEA of stars. It was a sight you would never see in Singapore! So here I am now, safely enclosed in my room at the Four Seasons Hotel, typing this into my blog. I know I am slowly dozing off so I'll tell you more tomorrow!
